How to buy and sell a NJ pension without the hassle of a bank account
Chris Christie is asking lawmakers to pass legislation that would let people buy and resell their own NJ pension plan.
A bill approved by the Legislature earlier this month would allow people to purchase their own pension plan from the New Jersey State Retirement System through online portals and direct deposit.
Christie says the law will allow people “to better manage their investments” while keeping them from having to rely on a traditional bank account or traditional brokerage firm.NJ lawmakers passed a bill to allow people who are over 65 to buy a NJ retirement plan via an online portal and direct depositing bill in the last legislative session.
Christie said that the bill is the “most significant legislative step that we’ve taken to create a truly modern, secure and sustainable retirement system in New Jersey.”
The bill now heads to the Governor’s Office for his signature.
